I still consider myself a novice when it comes to ghost hunting; I can count on two hands all of the official* investigations I’ve been a part of, and I will admit, although it is an interesting experience for someone with a life-long interest in the paranormal, it is not the experience that ghost hunting TV shows and youtube channels make it out to be.
*official investigations refers to rentable locations and private residences. I have lost count how many times we have taken basic equipment (essentially just a voice recorder and a KII meter, and occasionally a specialized camera or two) to the local cemetery or to other open public places with reported hauntings to see if we pick up any activity.
I've never been disappointed in an investigation before (except for maybe the one I had a week ago, because it was very quiet and nothing substantial happened except for like, one thing, but amidst all of the COVID-19 panic keeping me very busy at work, I've been unable to review my evidence and therefor whatever we may have caught but weren't aware of at the time), but depending on what you personally are looking for when you go out investigating, you may come out with a new life-long hobby, or with what feels like a waste of time.
But that is ultimately up to you, dear novice. So here is a list of things that they don’t tell you about ghost hunting.
( this got long )
