I posted these a while back on my personal dreamwidth after having a very sudden, and very random, recollection of the first story in this short little compilations. I was going to post this to reddit, but their glitch in the matrix subreddit explicitly forbids stories out of your childhood, so alas I cannot post them there. I feel this would be appropriate to post here, since I plan on covering other weird phenomena here in this blog, and I may post my other personal paranormal experiences at some point too.
- - Story #1: Jack Skeleton - -
One of my newer coworkers walked by me on her way out for the day, and she was wearing a Jack Skellington drawstring backpack, which for some odd reason triggered this memory.
A little backstory before I begin; my sisters are fraternal twins who were born very prematurely, so they had a lot of medical issues for the first few years of their lives. It was a rough time on everybody, so there were nurses that came over on a daily basis to help with their care. Medically glorified babysitters in a sense, as they'd be there while our parents were out working.
There was one nurse, whose name I do not recall, who liked to tell us stories. Some of the stories she used to tell us involved a man named Jack Skeleton (Skellington, but I was like five, so forgive me for mishearing), whose biggest catchphrase was "what's this?" and a very specific scene about a circle of doors in the woods leading to different holiday towns.
A full year before A Nightmare Before Christmas ever came out.
